Detroit moving cost September 2026
A local 2-bedroom in Detroit, as of September 2026, sits in a $1,100–$2,400 research range. January ice and a Midtown freight slot move that number.
Free phone quote. Not a carrier. Not a bid.
| Home | Local research range | Longer haul research range |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | $450–$950 | $1,800–$4,200 |
| 1 bedroom | $700–$1,400 | $2,400–$5,400 |
| 2 bedroom | $1,100–$2,400 | $3,000–$6,600 |
| 3 bedroom | $1,700–$3,200 | $4,200–$8,800 |
Planning range, not a bid. Research fallback compiled in September 2026 from published industry tables and public quote examples. Haulest does not yet have a large enough first-party sample to publish a median. A phone survey still wins.
On the ground
Detroit winter is a fee. Midtown and downtown buildings want a reserved freight elevator and a COI. Older streets and alleys decide whether the truck sits in front. Interstate out toward Chicago is a real line-haul. Ask for the USDOT. Ice on a wood stair is how a cheap hourly quote becomes overtime.
A January walk-up with ice on the rear stair is slower than the same building in June. The quote that ignored winter is the one that grows.
